Editorial Policy
International students make real decisions — visas, money, housing — based on what they read. We take that seriously.
1. Where our information comes from
- Primary sources first: Hi Korea, the Ministry of Justice / Korea Immigration Service, NHIS (health insurance), Korea Customs, local city offices, and official university notices.
- Real student experience second: questions and experiences from international students in Busan. We use these to explain what actually happens — never to replace official rules.
- Every guide links to its official sources.
2. How we check
- Rules, fees, hours and numbers are checked against the official source before publishing.
- Each guide shows a "Last checked" date.
- Fast-changing figures (fees, minimum balances, working-hour limits) are kept in one place and reviewed every semester (February and August), and whenever an official change is announced.
3. Translations
Guides are available in Vietnamese, Indonesian, Malay, Urdu and Bengali. Translations are prepared for each language and reviewed by native-speaking students where possible. When the English guide is updated, the translations are updated together. If you spot a translation error, please tell us.
4. Student comments and Q&A
Comments and Ask Busan questions are written by signed-in students and reviewed before they appear. They share personal experience, which can differ by office and by person. We remove spam, advertising, personal information (phone numbers, ARC numbers, addresses) and anything unsafe. When a comment reveals that a guide is out of date, we update the guide and thank the student.
5. Partners and ads
Some links are partner links: we may earn a commission if you buy through them, at no extra cost to you. They are labelled. Partners do not review or approve our content, and a partner relationship never changes a recommendation. We may display ads; ads are always visually separate from guide content.
6. Not legal advice
Our guides are general information. For decisions about your own visa status, confirm with the immigration office (1345) or your university's international office.
7. Corrections
Found something wrong or outdated? Email hello@onboardkorea.net with the page link. We review every correction request, fix confirmed errors as soon as possible, and update the "Last checked" date.
